Evidence, uncertainty and responsible interpretation

Learning objective

Read status labels and avoid common misreadings.

Labels include SOURCE VERIFIED, VALIDATED, DERIVED, ESTIMATED, MODELLED, DEMO, UNDER REVIEW and MISSING. Missing is not zero; correlation is not causation; growth does not automatically improve welfare.

Use the Policy Advisor critically

Name the country and ask a specific question. Inspect the cited evidence, source years and assumptions; use Challenge mode to explore objections. Real AI rewrites the sourced tool evidence, and a standard answer is used if AI is unavailable. It cannot establish causation or guarantee a policy outcome. Ask what missing information could change the advice, then compare it with your Planner and local feasibility work.

Separate verification from validation

A published input may be source-verified while a model using it remains unvalidated. Look for the model’s validation record and scope. A narrow validation does not establish that every country, scenario or policy is validated.

A figure is labelled MODELLED. What does that mean?
A grant stage shows MISSING. How should you read it?
A province has a Division of Revenue Act allocation for a grant. Does that show the money was paid or received?
The resource-allocation engine shows an available envelope. Can the council spend it tomorrow?
A Scenario Lab package shows employment rising 2% by year 5. What is that?
